Senior Flight Software Engineer (f/m/d)

We are a New Space company based in Berlin and we are part of the Zeitfracht Group. We are developing space vehicles, rovers and infrastructure for the Moon. Our goal is to make space exploration accessible to new customer groups by reducing mission costs and developing reusable space-based infrastructures. PTS cooperates with a number of industrial partners and space organisations, such as the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the European Space Agency (ESA).

The Position:

We are looking for an experienced Flight Software Engineer who has a passion for working with the newest technologies to create the next generation flight software for our lunar lander.


 Your work will include:

  • Involvement in the entire development life-cycle including requirements engineering, software architecture and design, implementation and testing
  • Deriving software requirements from system requirements
  • Defining the software system architecture based on the requirements
  • Participation in requirements, design and code reviews
  • Coordinating with the Systems Engineering department as well as defining interfaces with other subsystems



  • At least 4 years of professional experience in flight software development
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in C/C++ development
  • Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s level) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field
  • Experience with other programming languages such as Python, Java, etc
  • Strong experience with embedded systems
  • Experience with developing applications based on a real-time operating system such as RTEMS or VxWorks
  • Knowledge of scheduling analysis for real-time systems
  • Experience with long-term maintenance of a complex software system
  • Experience with HIL simulation environments
  • Understanding of software safety problems, familiarity with the hazard analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards in software engineering and software verification (or equivalent standards)
  • Knowledge of version control systems like Git
  • Proficiency in the English language (spoken and written)
  • Solid documentation writing skills


Nice to haves:

  • Contribution to open source projects
  • Experience with software certification
  • Experience with developing software according to MISRA or similar formal coding guidelines
  • Experience with developing software in a Linux environment
  • Proficiency in the German language (spoken and written)
