Imagine stepping foot on the moon and exploring its many mysteries. While such an experience may not be possible in the near future, at the Rostock-Laage Airport in Germany, you can feel as if you’ve been sent to a different world. PTS has created a unique simulation environment to test lunar rovers for missions to the moon.
Science Grade Lunar Dust Simulants & Lunar Surface Topography
Rostock Spacelab is equipped with science grade lunar dust simulants. This allows engineers to accurately test the performance of the rover in lunar regolith. Combined with its lunar surface topography our test environment can be used to test the overall performance of lunar rovers and allows engineers to get an accurate representation of how a lunar rovers subsystems will execute their tasks on the moon’s surface.
Gravity Reduction & Adjustable Realistic Lighting
The simulator offers gravity reduction technology. This allows testing of your rovers performance in reduced gravity environments. Furthermore we’ve created the Rostock-Laage Spacelab with adjustable realistic lighting. This lighting is used to simulate the lighting conditions of the moon’s surface & allows engineers to accurately test the rover’s performance in different lighting conditions.
Integration & outdoor driving Areas
For on site integration and subsystem testing we also offer our integration and laboratory areas. If you have a need for testing in wide areas with lots of space there are large outdoor areas available.
